Planning Ahead for Peace of Mind

Gunn Memorial Library will welcome Attorneys Janie McDermott and David Sfara for Planning Ahead for Peace of Mind, an informative session designed to help individuals better understand the essentials of estate planning.

McDermott and Sfara will discuss important estate planning documents, including wills, living wills, healthcare proxies, and powers of attorney, as well as types of trusts, succession of assets, and probate issues. The program will offer practical information about how thoughtful planning can help individuals make their wishes known and prepare for the future.

Attorneys McDermott and Sfara are partners with Giuliano Richardson & Sfara LLC in Woodbury, where they focus their practices primarily on estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate litigation, and tax-exempt governance. McDermott has spent more than ten years in private practice, while Sfara has practiced law in Connecticut for forty-nine years.

Both are active in their communities. McDermott has served on the boards of several local nonprofits and is a member of Connecticut’s Probate Court Rules of Procedure Committee. Sfara formerly served as chair of the boards of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and the Mattatuck Museum.
